F.A.Q

Q - Can I install Billcost or Merkel's onto more than one computer?
A - Yes, but you will need to purchase an additional licence for the extra computer as the way Billcost's security policy works is that the software will work as 'one licence per computer'.
Additional licences can be bought though with a discount structure in place!

Q - Are there Demo versions available for any of the software packages?
A - Yes!
We have free demos available for Billcost (which you will need to register via Email or Fax by contacting our Offices) as well as Costabill.

Q - How do I download Costabill?
- You don't. Costabill works online and simply requires you to login (as an existing user) or Register and then you can use the Demo or buy the product.
*You will have to install an application called Silverlight to use Costabill.

Q - Can I use Billcost for Civil works?
A - No, Billcost is not recommended as a primary estimating tool for Civil works.
However, some clients specialising in Civil works have found Billcost useful for wet works as well as general building
.

Q - Is Billcost a software package anyone can use for building estimates?
A - Billcost is a specialised software package that may be too advanced or, at times, thorough for it to be a package that anyone can get estimating with.
With a bit of basic building knowledge a home owner could make use of Billcost to calculate their own estimates, but generally speaking it is a specialised software package for General Builders, Contractors and Quantity Surveyors.

Q - Is Billcost suitable for Architectual work?
A - No, while Architects have made use of our software, they use it purely for price estimating after manually inputting quantities into Billcost for the relevant trade/ item from their plan.
The software has no architectual design or 3D capabilities.

Q - Can I scan a plan with Billcost and then get the specs and prices automatically generated?
A - No.

Q - Can I use Billcost to estimate on Landscaping or for building Swimming Pools?
A - No, Billcost is purely for residential building, general building or to estimate small-to-medium sized industrial projects.

Q - Will Billcost be able to assist me with Project Management of a project?
A - While Billcost is called, "Billcost Project Manager", this is actual reference to the  management of estimates and build-up of your project within the different Billcost features, as opposed to actual Project Management. While certain features in Billcost may assist with a small portion of Project Management, our software is ultimately driven to assist the user to get accurate, market based estimates for their entire building project.

Q - Will Billcost give me an estimated time as to how long my building project will take?
A - No, for the simple reason being there are far too many variables that can affect a project of any size.
While the Billcost "Labour Viewer" can assist with managing your own labour teams, the same issue arises with regards to unforseen circumstances (weather, absent labourers, unknown skill sets, payment issues, supplier issues etc.)
